Sarah Green CONSULTING

Summary

I am an advocacy, program, communications, and research expert with 20 years of experience in human rights and social justice, including in philanthropy, UN agencies, INGOs, and research institutions. I’m an effective strategist and communicator who specializes in synthesizing and translating complex research and technical concepts for donor, program, and policy audiences. I am a skilled leader and coalition builder with a proven track record of fostering consensus among diverse stakeholders, shifting narratives, and garnering support for emerging issues. I have field research, program implementation, and personal experience living in Latin America, Africa, Asia, Europe, and the U.S. I have broad and deep expertise in issues related to gender equality, women’s and girls’ rights, sexual and reproductive health and rights, and am passionate about supporting shifts in philanthropy to get more and better resources to feminist activists. I have a successful track record of managing teams and large, complex budgets. I’m a native English speaker, fluent in Spanish, with working knowledge of French and Portuguese.

What I can offer

My broad and deep skill set positions me well to take on a variety of types of projects and initiatives. This includes but is not limited to:

  • Research, writing, and communications: Identifying and interpreting a range of types of information and evidence (quantitative and qualitative data, personal testimonies, current events) on a variety of topics, and synthesizing the material into accessible formats with compelling narratives for a range of audiences. I can work from a broad idea to deliver a specific product, or fine-tune a draft with contributions from multiple authors into a coherent, polished publication. I deliver work that astutely reflects and responds to the nuanced political and social contexts we are working in, while also being thorough, polished, and accurate down to the finest detail.

  • Analysis, advocacy, and visibility: Let’s get your messages out there! Whether through timely and engaging op-eds, blog posts, and social media, or conceptualizing, curating, and implementing your large or intimate convenings, I can both lead and support. This includes identifying and preparing speakers, developing dynamic agendas, and crafting pre-reads and outcome materials (meeting reports and summaries, agreed priorities, key takeaways, and a range of other internal and external documents), all with attention to language justice. I’m a strong moderator and facilitator and can contribute these skills or coach your team to take on these roles. I can also provide landscape analysis, stakeholder mapping, and opposition research to make your advocacy as informed and strategic as possible.

  • Strategy development: I can support your team or coalition to translate their big ideas in advocacy, philanthropy, programs, partnerships, and communications into clear visions with specific objectives, outcomes, and outputs, and with well-defined progress markers to track and meaningfully communicate your journey toward change.

  • Donor relations: Whether it’s crafting compelling and clear funding proposals and donor reports, or preparing presentations, pitches, and updates for institutional or individual donors, I am skilled at compiling and communicating the complexity of your work, achievements, and challenges in ways that give your donors a robust understanding of your impact.

  • Partnerships, coordination, and project management: I keep the trains running on time! In addition to managing my own tight deadlines, I am seasoned at  overseeing complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives, employing the tools and communication approaches needed to support everyone to exceed expectations in a warm and collaborative environment, across time zones, geographies, cultures, and professional backgrounds. I am comfortable leading, driving, and giving shape to initiatives, and also take pride in supporting others’ leadership when that is most appropriate. I have a deeply collaborative spirit and a relationship-oriented personable style, and enjoy constantly learning from others.

I thrive when I have the opportunity to combine as many of these skills as possible to provide wraparound services, where all the risks and potential gains have been thoroughly considered and delivered on. If you have ideas or needs in mind that you don’t see reflected above, let’s chat about possibilities. And in cases where my skill set could be complemented by others’ expertise, I will tap talented, values-aligned colleagues from my vast global network to collaborate with in order to most holistically meet client needs.
