Jen Hyman is a communications strategist, storyteller, and coach with more than 30 years of experience helping mission-driven organizations bring clarity, purpose, and creativity to the way they share their work with the world. She has led communications for major global nonprofits, designed messaging for movements and milestones, and worked in more than 50 countries on causes ranging from food security to gender equity to health systems strengthening. Throughout her career, Jen has helped organizations shape bold narratives, navigate complexity, and connect authentically with audiences that matter — from grassroots partners to global media. She has secured coverage in publications such as The New York Times, Washington Post, BBC, Reuters, CNN, NBC and more, has developed full-scale communications strategies, and led messaging and storytelling efforts that drive visibility, trust, and results. Known for her empathy, humor, and collaborative spirit, Jen brings heart and humanity to every engagement. She believes the best communications work comes from listening well, asking the right questions, and staying grounded in what’s real and meaningful. As a longtime practitioner of improv comedy, she brings creativity, adaptability, and a bit of fun to the table — especially when leading trainings on public speaking, storytelling, and messaging. Outside of work, Jen is also a painter whose artwork (www.jenhymanart.com) captures both abstract emotions and scenes inspired by her travels and experiences supporting global change. Whether on canvas or on the page, she’s passionate about using visual and verbal storytelling to make people feel, think, and act. She holds an M.A. in International Policy and Practice from The George Washington University and a B.A. in East Asian Languages and Cultures from Columbia University. She is fluent in Mandarin Chinese and has working knowledge of several other languages.
